Cowboys football player Marshawn Kneeland honored by team and fans

ARLINGTON, TX — There’s a different energy inside the Dallas Cowboys’ locker room this week — quieter, heavier, but deeply united.

Following the tragic passing of Marshawn Kneeland, the Cowboys’ young defensive standout, the team has found a new reason to play — not for headlines or playoff hopes, but for him.

On Sunday, when the Cowboys take the field against the Philadelphia Eagles, every helmet will bear the number 94, Kneeland’s jersey number, stitched in silver and blue. Coaches and players alike will wear black warm-up shirts that read “Play for Marshawn.”

Team owner Jerry Jones, visibly emotional, addressed the media, saying,

“We’ve lost a son, a teammate, and a friend. Marshawn represented everything this organization stands for — courage, love, and heart.”

Before kickoff, the Cowboys will hold a moment of silence at AT&T Stadium. Kneeland’s parents and girlfriend, Catalina, will be in attendance, alongside several community members who knew him off the field.

Quarterback Dak Prescott spoke with rare vulnerability after practice:

“You can feel him out there. Every time we line up, every time we hit, it’s for Marshawn. He gave his all — we owe him that.”

Wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, one of Kneeland’s closest teammates, was seen writing “MK94” on his gloves before drills. When asked what it meant, he simply replied, “He’s still with us.”

In the Cowboys’ facility, Kneeland’s locker remains untouched — his jersey hanging exactly as he left it. Teammates have placed letters, photos, and messages inside, turning it into a small shrine of remembrance and love.

For the Cowboys, this season has transformed into something far beyond football. Wins and losses will come, but the bond forged in grief may become their greatest strength yet.

As one staff member quietly said while looking at the empty locker:

“You don’t move on from someone like Marshawn. You move forward with him.”

💙 This season, the Cowboys play for Marshawn Kneeland — forever 94.
