Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has provided an important update on the hip injury that limited him during this week’s practices, easing some concerns while also acknowledging the issue is more than just routine soreness. With the Cowboys preparing for a highly anticipated Week 12 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles, all eyes were on Prescott as he addressed his health in front of reporters.
Prescott, who appeared on the team’s injury report as a limited participant, clarified that the problem is “manageable but real,” describing it as discomfort that surfaced after last week’s game. While he stopped short of calling it serious, he admitted the pain affected certain movements during practice.
“It’s nothing I’m overly worried about,” Prescott said, “but it’s definitely something we’ve been monitoring. I felt it tighten up a bit earlier in the week, so the trainers wanted me to scale back. I’ll be ready.”
Cowboys medical staff also indicated the team is being “strategic rather than cautious,” noting that preserving Prescott’s mobility is essential against an Eagles defense known for heavy pressure and aggressive blitz packages. Although the quarterback did not miss any team meetings or film sessions, his reps were intentionally reduced to avoid aggravating the hip before Sunday.
Prescott acknowledged that the timing of the injury was frustrating given the magnitude of the matchup. The Cowboys and Eagles remain locked in a tight NFC race, and this game could play a major role in determining playoff seeding. Still, the Dallas star expressed confidence not only in his ability to play, but to play effectively.
“I’ve played through worse,” Prescott said with a grin. “It’s Week 12 — nobody is feeling perfect right now. This isn’t something that’s going to stop me.”
Inside the Cowboys locker room, teammates echoed the sentiment, saying Prescott looked sharp in the limited reps he did take. Coaches also emphasized that the team’s offensive game plan would not be altered unless unexpected setbacks arise.
As kickoff approaches, the sense around the organization is that Prescott will be under center as usual. The question now is not whether he will play — but whether the hip issue will affect his movement, pocket escape ability, and willingness to scramble.
